Louisville Head Coach Tom Collen
"I thought it was a good win today. This team does not take me right to the wire, but they always take me to under the four-minute mark to figure out if we are going to come out with a good victory or not. I thought today was pretty typical of a lot of our games this year."
"I was real proud of Angel Bradley, today was her last game in Freedom Hall. She played her heart out, obtaining a double-double. She really came alive for us in the second half. Jazz was the typical Jazz, she draws double-teams, and I am amazed at how quickly she has been able to develop to play out of double-team coverage. A lot of great post players never figure out how to do that all the way through their senior year, but she has learned in her sophomore year."
"Yuliya Tokova continues to shine. The kid just gets better and better. She gets nervous; she had a sub-power performance on Friday night, but came out today and had 20 points, eight rebounds, and is 9-of-10 from the free throw line. Before the season started, we would have told you that she would struggle to shoot 50 percent from the line, and now she is our leading free throw shooter. She is one more notch in our belt."
"We would love to get second place in our conference standings, get the number two seed and get the bye in the tournament. We have to keep building to get wins to make an impression on the NCAA committee, to see if we can get to the big dance. "
"We talked a lot about rebounding the ball. I thought we rebounded a lot stronger late in the game. We attacked them and we got to the free throw line, some times we were a little reluctant, but when we attack and we get to the free throw line, I think we make things happen."
"We really shot the ball well from the outside today, our normal shooters did not have great days, but at halftime I stressed to them that there are ways to beat a zone without steeping up and shooting a lot of three point shoots."
"I think that we are real similar to the team we were last year. We won ten straight last year, we got a little more done early. We have a stronger strength of schedule this year. We played a great non-conference schedule, and we defiantly had more big wins this year. Our record is about the same as last year and our RPI is about the same, but I think that our profile looks a little better this year. The only way top really sure yourself a spot in the tournament is to win your conference tournament. We are going to need to go down there and win a few games to feel like we are going to get in to the NCAA tournament."
Sophomore Center Jazz Covington
"Yuliya Tokova played great tonight, she needs to keep that up. She is going to help us get top where we need to be."
"Sometimes things to not go the way we want them to go and your shots do not fall, but today we stayed positive. We did not get down or anything, and stayed really positive. I tried to stay on them (teammates) so we could pick it up and stop turning the ball over so much. We just stayed confident."
"Right now winning these last three games are very important for us. It will build our confidence heading into the conference tournament. We are feeling like we are right there at the top, but these last three games are very important."
"We have not really been talking about the NCAA tournament, we used to talk about how winning certain games could get us in, and then we finally realized if we win our conference tournament we will be in there."
"The main thing right now is winning this next game against Cincinnati, and then we will be on to the conference tournament."
Freshman Forward Yuliya Tokova
"I know that my teammates believe in me, and I have some confidence to play. I am so excited that I had the minutes to play. American basketball is like the new world to me, and I have now adopted it, and I am ready to play."
