
Women's Basketball to Hold Open Practice

Louisville, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's basketball will hold an open practice on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 1:00 -2:30 p.m. in Cardinal Arena. The doors will open at 1:00 p.m. for fans to watch Coach Collen and the Cardinals hard at work on the practice floor. Along with practice, the Cardinals will participate in a three-point contest and prizes will be handed out to fans in attendance. The practice will be followed by an autograph session where fans will receive the first copies of the women's basketball poster.
The Cardinals were ranked 18th in the Women's Basketball News Service preseason poll. Louisville was one of five teams from the BIG EAST Conference ranked in the WBNS preseason poll. Rutgers is ranked second, DePaul was ranked 11th, Connecticut was ranked 13th and Notre Dame was ranked 15th.
Leading scorer Jazz Covington also garnered some preseason attention as well. Covington was named a third team preseason All-American by Lindy's Basketball. Covington was also a WBCA/Kodak Honorable Mention All-American at the end of last season. She finished her sophomore year averaging 17.8 points and 8.1 rebounds.
Louisville returns four starters from last year's squad that finished with a 22-9 overall record and earned an NCAA Tournament bid for the first time in five seasons.
