Cardinal Women Finish Third at Woodford Trials

VERSAILLES, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's cross country team opened the 2004 season with a third-place finish at the Woodford Trials Friday evening in Versailles, Ky.
The Cardinals finished with 86 points in the four-team event. The host Wildcats of Kentucky won the team title with 18 points, followed by Eastern Kentucky with 40, while Marshall University was fourth with 109 points.
U of L was led by junior Ashley Ruberg's 15th place finish and a time of 13 minutes, 1 second on the 2-mile course. Senior Corryn McCrae was right behind Ruberg in 16th with a time of 13:08.
Junior Lauren Baldwin finished with a time of 14:03 and 21st place, while freshman Jesse Faulkenberg was 22nd with a 14:05. Sophomore Holly Geers closed out the scoring for the Cards with a 24th place finish and a time of 14:16.
Up next, the Cardinals will compete at the Commodore Invitational hosted by Vanderbilt University on Saturday, Sept. 11 in Nashville.
