Jakob Gustafsson and Damar Johnson teamed to beat Andrey Kumantsov and R.J. Nagel 8-6 at No. 2 and Octavian Nicodim and Mark Kennedy registered an 8-6 win over Boyd Michau and Dewald Linde at the three-spot.
In singles, Mayer topped Kumantsov 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 at No. 1. The Cards took the remaining singles matches in straight sets as Nicodim defeated d'Argence Arceo 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 and Johnson posted a 6-1, 6-3 win over Nagle at No. 3. Jhonny Berrido topped Michau 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4. Gustafsson defeated Phillips 6-4, 6-3 at No. 5 and Clark beat Linde 6-2, 6-3 at the six seed.
"Indiana State is a program that has been in the NCAA tournament four of the last six years," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "A win agains a good program is nice, but a shutout is impressive. We tried a new doubles lineup and it seemed to work. The singles players just took care of business."
Louisville (12-7) will play No. 49 William & Mary on Saturday, March 27 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
