
Game Time Set for Women's NIT

Louisville, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's basketball team will host Western Michigan in the first round of the WNIT on Thursday, March 18 at 7:00 p.m. in Cardinal Arena. Louisville finished the regular season with a 12-1 home record and has currently on 12 consecutive home games.
The Cardinals enter the game with an overall record of 20-9 and finished tied for second in the league with TCU. Senior point guard Sara Nord, a Kodak/WBCA All-America finalist, leads the Cardinals with 17.4 points per game and 6.5 assists. Freshman center Jazz Covington is second on the team in scoring with 16.2 points and leads the Cardinals on the boards with 7.9 rebounds per game.
Western Michigan has an overall record of 17-12 and finished with an 11-5 record in the MAC Conference. Junior guard Casey Rost, the MAC Player of the Year, leads the Broncos in scoring with 19.8 points per game.
This is the third appearance in the WNIT for the Cardinals and their first time to host the event. The last time the Cardinals appeared in the WNIT was during the 2002 season. Louisville lost in the first round at Ball State.
Should the Cardinals advance, they will play the winner of the Charlotte/Clemson matchup in the second round on Sunday.
