Louisville, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's basketball team will face Conference USA defending champion Charlotte tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. in Cardinal Arena. The game is the first of two final home games for the Cardinals (16-8, 8-3).
"This is a big game for both teams," said head coach Tom Collen. "They were regular season champions and they have to win these games to get into the NCAA Tournament. We are both in each other's way. We recognize that if we could win out, we could have a shot at the NCAA Tournament. But we are taking it one game at a time and right now our focus is on Charlotte. They are a good team and will be a tough test for us tomorrow night."
Charlotte enters the game with an overall record of 14-10 and a league record of 7-4. The 49ers are led in scoring by sophomore forward Pam Brown with 11.8 points per game. Brown also leads the 49ers on the boards with 5.3 rebounds per game. Sophomore guard Sakellie Daniels is second in scoring for Charlotte with 11.6 points per game and senior Peaches Harris rounds out the top scorers with 10.7 points per game.
The Cardinals enter the game on a six game win streak. Senior point guard Sara Nord leads the team in scoring with 17.8 points per game. Freshman Jazz Covington leads the team on the boards with 7.7 rebounds per game. Covington is also the second leading scorer with 16.5 points per game.
