Men's Tennis Falls to No. 3 Vanderbilt 6-1

NASHVILLE - - The University of Louisville men's tennis team fell to third-ranked Vanderbilt 6-1 Sunday at Vanderbilt.
The Commodores edged the Cards to win the doubles point as Louisville's Matt Mayer and Jeremy Clark defeated Matt Lockin and Nathan Sachs 8-4 at the No. 3 seed. Vanderbilt's Scott Brown and Chad Harris beat Octavian Nicodim and Jhonny Berrido 8-6 at the top seed to even the doubles matches. Zach Dailey and Lewis Smith outlasted U of L's Damar Johnson and Jakob Gustafsson 9-7 at No. 2 to clinch the point.
In singles action, Harris topped Berrido 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1, Lockin topped Johnson 7-5, 6-2 at No. 2 and Dailey edged Nicodim 7-5, 6-4 at the three-spot. The No. 4 spot saw Brown winning the first set 7-6, with Mayer taking the second by the same score, Brown claimed the win with a 16-14 tie-breaker win in the third. Smith outlasted Gustafsson 6-7, 6-1, 7-5 at No. 5. Clark notched the Cards' only point with a 7-6, 6-3 win over Sachs at the six seed.
Louisville (3-1) will travel to Lexington to play Kentucky on Thursday, Jan. 29 at 5 p.m.
