
Swimming Participates in Cocoa Beach Fun Meet

The University of Louisville men's and women's swimming and diving team competed at the Cocoa Beach Fun Meet against Case Western University as a highlight of their training session over the holiday break.
Swimming 50s in each stroke, the two schools swam long course meters (LCM)for the events. Each swimmer swam fly, back, breast and free.
Louisville's Ann Isaacs had a strong showing with two wins in the meet. In the fly, she swam a time of 32.20. Only U of L's Meg Densmore could post a time under 33 seconds at that distance with a 32.33. Isaacs also won the backstroke with a time of 34.64 respectively. She was the only swimmer under 35 seconds. Larissa Niehoff had the best time in the free for the meet with a time of 29.20. Case Western's Crystal Du won the breaststroke with a time of 38.42.
For the men, Louisville's Jonathan Farnham had the fastest time in the free with a 26.36. Matt Lees posted the best time in the butterfly with a time of 28.19, edging Joseph Mittel who swam a 28.92. Mittel rebounded with a win in the back with a time of 30.48. Only one other swimmer was under 31 seconds as U of L's Felix Spittler posted a 30.91 in the same event. Case Western's Pat Rodgon posted a 33.76 time in the breaststroke. James Winchester came closest to beating Rodgon with a time of 34.39.
The Cardinals return to action January 24 when they travel to Saint Louis.
