
Cards Fall to DePaul 66-57 in C-USA Tournament

Memphis, Tenn. - DePaul hit 8 of 10 from the free throw line to defeat the Cardinals 66-57 in the quarterfinals of the C-USA Women's Basketball Tournament on Friday. Lori Nero led all scorers with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Charlene Smith led DePaul with 20 point
"I am so proud of these 11 kids," said interim head coach Steve Huber. "If you knew some of what these kids went through and how they bounced back. How they rallied around each other and never giving up."
In the first half there was six lead changes, however DePaul went into halftime with a 30-29 lead. The Blue Demons came out strong in the second, posting a 13-0 run at the 10 minute mark. However, the Cardinals fought back within two points from taking the lead heading into the final six minutes of the game.
DePaul would eventually pull away when Laura Sobieszczyk notched a three-point shot and Ashley Luke followed with another at the 3:29 mark.
Nina Simotes added 13 points and Sara Nord added 10.
