What a tough weekend! We just got back from ECU and Charlotte, and we underestimated East Carolina. They played hard and wanted the win more than us. Going into the game they had nothing to lose. For me, I felt like I played poorly, and foul trouble was a problem in the beginning of that game. The second half was much better than the first half. At one point we regained the lead, just to give it away. It was a game that we should have won.
Afterwards we had to regain our focus. Charlotte is undefeated in the conference, and it was necessary to go there ready to win. Going into that game we knew it would tough, and it lived up to its challenge. Everyone played hard, but turnovers were a factor in the loss. To win a game like that everyone on the team needs to be on the same page, and that was not the case for us on Sunday. I let the team down on Friday, so on Sunday I tried to make up for it. I played better, but I felt bad knowing that the coaches believe in us. I wanted to win it for both the coaches and the team. Nothing would make me happier than breaking the road trip curse that we have.
The trip also had good points. Charlotte was a beautiful place, and I really liked the city. The team was dropped off at the Concord Mills Mall, where I bought a few things. Kim Pemberton and I walked around, and we ate at the Hibachi Grill. Our chef was an amateur, and it was obvious he was new to his job. I tried to make it easier for him by conversing, but Kim thinks I just gave him a hard time. The other people in the restaurant seemed to be having more fun with the other chefs, and I wished that we could have gotten one of them. They were more animated, while ours was scared. I tried catching a shrimp in my mouth, but because he didn't give me a good pass I missed. I tried doing a trick flipping a bowl with a spatula, but it went flying and hit another bowl that had sauce in it. It fell onto Kim, getting sauce all over her! Oops! Overall that was a fun night.
I also spent my free-time playing Egyptian Ratscrew with Jessica, one of the managers. It's a card game that keeps you on edge, and it helped pass time in the airport. This weekend I was the Egyptian Ratscrew master, beating her 15-2! She usually beats me, but this weekend I was unstoppable. It was great!
This weekend we play Cincinnati, and I look forward to playing at home again. I know the team is exciting for this rematch, and I hope all of our fans can make it out to cheer for us. Go Cards!
