Louisville, Ky. - Junior point guard Sara Nord earned Conference USA Player of the Week honors this week for the period ending Jan. 5. Nord guided the Cardinals to wins over No. 11 Vanderbilt, 92-82, and Kentucky, 86-72 last week. She recorded her third triple-double of her career with 16 points, 10 assists and 11 rebounds against Kentucky. It marked the seventh triple-double in C-USA history.
She also broke the C-USA career assists record with her 10 against UK. She now has a total of 548 assists, eclipsing the old mark of former Louisville point guard Jenny Knight (97-00), who notched 538 in her four-year career. Nord also led the team in scoring with 25 points against No. 11 Vanderbilt. She finished the week averaging 20.5 points, 8.5 assists and 8.5 rebounds.
Nord becomes the first player in Louisville (men's and women's) and Conference USA history to notch three triple-doubles. Former Rutgers standout Tasha Pointer is the only player to register more career triple-doubles with four.
