
Women's Basketball Falls to Western Kentucky

Bowling Green, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's basketball team fell to Western Kentucky 87-67 Tuesday night in E.A. Diddle Arena. Junior point guard Sara Nord led the Cardinals with 21 points seven assists and four steals. Tiffany Talbert-Porter led the Lady Hilltoppers with 23 points.
Western Kentucky opened the second half with a 10-0 run, all 10 points were scored by Talbert-Porter. Nord ending the scoring drought with a three-pointer at the 15:44 mark. Western continued to build the lead throught the second half behind 58.6 percent shooting. The Lady Hilltoppers shot 60 percent from behind the three-point line.
The Cardinals were held to just 26.5 percent shooting in the second half. The Hilltoppers outrebounded the Cardinals 48-32.
The first half was full of runs. The Cardinals broke free after the first five minutes to go on a 13-0 run to go up 20-8 at the 11:56 mark. Then the Lady Toppers went on a 14-4 run to cut the lead to five with just 3:50 remaining in the half.
Covington and Logsdon hit back-to-back three-pointers to cut the Cardinal lead to one with 1:47 left. As time expired in the first half, Reese scored on a putback to knot the score at 49.
The Cardinals will return to action on Dec. 13 in their home opener against IPFW at 7:00 p.m. in Freedom Hall.
