
Cards Fall to Chattanooga 84-79

Louisville, Ky. - The Chattanooga Lady Mocs knocked down three of four from the foul line to defeat the Cardinals 84-79 in Freedom Hall Sunday afternoon. The Lady Mocs broke the Cards' 12-game win streak at home. Sophomore Angel Bradley scored a career-high for the second consecutive game with 24 points. Miranda Warfield led Chattanooga with 19.
Chattanooga came out in the second half, building an 11 point lead with 15:39 remaining. Then the Cards went on a 12-0 lead to go ahead 58-57 at the 12:26 mark. The lead changed hands until the 10:23 mark when Chattanooga went on a 9-0 run to move ahead 70-61 with 9:04 remaining.
Then the Cards went on a 12-4 run to cut the Lady Mocs' lead to one with 5:14 remaining. The Chattanooga lead was one at the 2:26 mark when Katie Galloway nailed a three-pointer to push the Lady Mocs ahead 79-75.
Amanda Wolke missed a shot and Kassidi Bishop got the putback to pull the Cardinals within two at the 1:21 mark. Chattanooga pushed the lead up to four with 37 seconds remaining off a Shayma Sermons layup. Bradley hit two of two from the line to pull with in two with 27 seconds remaining.
Louisville native Nneka Irons hit two foul shots with 13 second remaining to put Chattanooga up by two. Sara Nord missed a three-pointer and Sermons got the layup and was fouled by Bradley. Sermons converted on one of two foul shots.
The Cards threw the long pass, Nord caught it took one dribble and pulled up for the jumper which hit the side of the rim and jumped out.
The Cards shot 51.8 percent from the field and outrebounded Chattanooga 34-32 but the Lady Mocs' hit nine three-pointers for the game.
The Cardinals will travel to Baton Rouge, La. for the WomensCollegeHoops.com Classic Dec. 18-19. The Cards will face New Orleans in the first round on Dec. 18 at 6:00 p.m.
