
Women's Basketball Win Home Opener 104-56

Louisville, Ky. - The Cardinals proved that there is no place like home, defeating IPFW 104-56 in their home opener Friday evening in Freedom Hall. Five Cardinals scored in double figures including career-highs of 18 points by Angel Bradley and 17 points by Nina Simotes. Sara Nord added 17 points and Amanda Wolke recorded a double-double with 17 points and 10 assists. Freshman Connie Neal rounded out the top scorers with 12 points.
The Cardinals seemed to suffer from a little stage fright to start the game. The game saw four ties and three lead changes in the first seven minutes before the Cardinals took control. Nord knocked down a three-pointer at the 13:26 mark to spark a 27-9 run over the next five minutes. In that five minute span, the Cardinals connected on 6 of 7 three-pointers (Nord with three and Neal with three).
The Cards shot 50 percent from the field in the first half and 46.7 percent from the three-point line.
The Cardinals opened up the second half with a 15-2 run to go ahead 72-36 at the 14:57 mark. The Cardinals biggest lead was 49 with a score of 85-36 with just over eight minutes remaining.
Louisville finished the game shooting a season-high 50.7 percent from the field. The Cardinals also outrebounded the Mastodons 54-32.
The Cardinals will be back in action on Sunday, Dec. 15 against Chattanooga at 2:00 p.m. in Freedom Hall.
