
Women's Basketball Wins 83-57 at FAU

Boca Raton, Fla. - The University of Louisville women's basketball team defeated Florida Atlantic 83-57 Friday evening in FAU Gymnasium. The Cardinals improve to 1-1 on the season and the Lady Owls fall to 0-4. Five Cardinals scored in double figures with senior Amanda Wolke leading the way with 17 points.
"I thought we didn't have much focus in the first half," said head coach Martin Clapp. "Our focus was to get the ball inside in the second half."
The Cardinals started the second half with with a 13-3 run, causing five Lady Owl turnovers in that stretch with the full court press.
"We started with the pressure and were rotating well," said Clapp. "We were shooting the gaps and were able to get some steals."
The Cardinals shot 61.8 percent in the second half, finishing with 46.5 percent for the game. Sara Nord scored 16 points, Angel Bradley added a career high 14 while Tiana Ford and Nina Simotes added 10.
The Lady Owls started the game with a 6-0 run before the Cardinals tied it up at the 15 minute mark. The game went back and forth in the first half with FAU taking a 31-29 lead into the half.
The Cardinals will be in action again on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at Western Kentucky at 8:00 p.m.
