
Matthews Called up to Canadian National Team

Louisville, Ky. - The University of Louisville's Devin Matthews was called up for the Canadian Men's Youth Under-20 Team. The team will begin their attempts to qualify for their second consecutive FIFA World Youth Championships when they travel to Charleston, South Carolina for the CONCACAF Qualifying Tournament from November 13-17.
Matthews has played in 17 games for the Cardinals and has scored one goal. Matthews became a late edition to the roster replacing an injured player.
Canada will play El Salvador on Wednesday, November 13 and Haiti on Friday, November 15th, before concluding the tournament against the host nation, USA on November 17.
The top two teams will advance to the FIFA World Youth Championships held March 25th - April 16th, 2003 in the United Arab Emirates.
Matthews will not be with the team as they compete in the Conference USA Tournament this week in Saint Louis, Mo.
