
Bird Named Offensive Player of the Week

Louisville, Ky. - The University of Louisville's Simon Bird was named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week the league announced today. Bird helped guide the Cardinals to their fifth and sixth consecutive win this season and a third place finish in the conference race.
Against Charlotte Bird scored the second goal in the 3-0 win. Bird scored off a free kick from Jelani Grant in the 38th minute of play. He also secured the Cardinals' 2-0 win over DePaul, scoring the second goal just six minutes into the second half.
Bird returned to the Louisville lineup just eights ago and has scored five goals in those eight games. He went down the first game of the season with a broken collarbone and since his return, the Cards have gone 6-1-1.
The Cardinals will play the No. 6 seed UAB in the first round of the Conference USA Tournament in Saint Louis, Mo. on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 8:00 p.m. central time.
