Louisville, Ky. - University of Louisville women's basketball head coach Martin Clapp announced today that assistant coach Kelley Hall has been promoted to associate head coach. Hall came to Louisville last season from Auburn and assumed the role of recruiting coordinator.
"Kelley has been involved with the program for one year but the experience and knowledge he has been able to contribute in such a short time helped us to a conference title in his rookie year here at Louisville," said Clapp. "The two areas that have stood out the most have been the recruiting and the improved post play. He added confidence to our post players, an area that was a weak spot the previous season and brought in and is continuing to bring top players from around the country to our program."
Hall will continue his roles as recruiting coordinator and post coach. He will also take on the responsibilities as defensive coach.
Hall produced a Top 30 recruiting class in his first season at Louisville. He signed the No. 2 Junior College player in the country last fall with Amanda Wolke. With the signing of Wolke, Hall was able to sign the highest rated player by a Conference USA team.
While at Auburn Hall's first recruiting class was ranked fourth nationally and his second class was ranked fifth. His third and final classes at Auburn were ranked in the Top 10.
"It's hard to put a value on 18 years of coaching experience at the college level," said Clapp. "We are glad that Kelley chose to come here and be a part of the growing process at Louisville. I know it's only a matter of time before some University chooses him as their new head coach and I'll be extremely happy for him. But until then we will let him continue to bring in the bluechip student-athletes at Louisville."
