
Men's Tennis Defeats Georgia State 6-1

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's tennis team defeated visiting Georgia State 6-1 on Saturday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. The win marks the first time the in program history that the team has gone undefeated (12-0) at home.
Louisville began the match by winning the doubles point as the team of Cody Conley and Paulo Carvalho defeated Miha Lisac and Jon Monk 8-4 at No. 2, and Brent McCombe and Oliver Cantrell defeated Carl Lumsden and Nicolas Lupica 8-4 at No. 3. The Panthers' Chris Stewart and Pablo Perez-Gras won over Alex Sivertsen and Joachim Lien 8-4 at the top seed.
In singles action, Louisville's Carvalho defeated Stewart 7-6, 6-7, 6-2 at No. 2. Senior Oliver Cantrell closed out his career at home with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Lumsden at No. 3. Conley defeated Lisac in three sets 6-7, 6-3, 6-2 at the four-spot. Matt Mayer won over Fernando Damus 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 and Brent McCombe posted a 6-3, 6-1 win over Lupica at the six-seed. Pablo Perez-Gras notched Georgia State's only singles point with his 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 win over Lien at No. 1.
"We reached two of our goals: to be undefeated at home, and to win at least 20 matches," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "I am proud of this team, they are reaching new heights every year."
Louisville closes out the regular season with a 20-7 record. This season also marks the first time the Cards have had back-to-back 20-win seasons. The defending Conference USA Champion Cardinals will travel to New Orleans for the C-USA tournament April 19-22.
