Men's Tennis Falls to No. 11 VCU

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - VCU advanced to Sunday's final of the O'Charley's Tennis Classic at the University of Tennessee by defeating the University of Louisville 6-1 in a match that was much closer than the score indicates.
VCU first took the doubles point by winning two of the three doubles matches. VCU's Florian Marquardt and Frank Moser, the nation's No. 12 doubles tandem, won their match against Tvrtko Kujundzic and Joachim Lien 8-2. The Rams second doubles victory was won by Fernando Sanchez and Daniel Casquero over Oliver Cantrell and Jake Kirts 8-5. The Louisville duo of Cody Conley and Brent McCombe stopped the doubles hat trick by defeating Mats Norin and Matius Hoglund 8-6.
In singles, all of the matches four of the matches went to three sets and all six matches had at least one tie-breaker. VCU's Frank Moser and Louisville's Tvrtko Kujundzic played a 3 1/2 hour marothon three-setter in the No. 1 singles match. Moser won the match and the clinching point for VCU 7-6(7), 5-7, 6-1. The lone singles winner for Louisville was Paulo Carvalho at No. 3.
