
Cardinals Down Wofford 83-59

Louisville, Ky. - Four Cardinals scored in double digits in a 83-59 win over Wofford Saturday afternoon in Freedom Hall. Kara Kessans and LaKisha Hoffman led the Cards with 14 points apiece while sophomore point guard Sara Nord tied her career-high with 13 assists and added five steals. Ricaye Harris led the Terriers with 18 points.
The Cardinals came out in the second half and built an 18 point lead in the first eight minutes. Louisville led by as many as 25 (72-47) with six minutes remaining. Senior Janelle Antoine's defensive effort led to team-high eight rebounds. The Cardinals outscored the Terriers 43-27 in the second half holding Wofford to 21.2 percent from the field in the half.
Louisville jumped out to a 18-5 lead in the first five minutes of play. The Cardinals held a 16- point lead with 8:22 left in the first half when Wofford mounted a late comeback pulling within seven with 2:09 left on the clock. The Cards finished the first half with a 40-32 lead.
The Cardinals will take a short break for Christmas and will be back in action on Dec. 28 against Miami (Ohio) at 7:00 p.m. in Freedom Hall.
