
Men's Soccer Falls to Marquette 3-0

Louisville, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's soccer team fell to Marquette 3-0 tonight in Cardinal Park. The Cards fall to 3-5-1 on the season and the Golden Eagles improve to 5-4-1.
Mike Robards got the Golden Eagles on the board in the second minute of play with a blast from thirty-five yards out from Derek Gutierrez. Louisville's George Zabaneh had a shot attempt in the fifth minute but Marquette's keeper, Adam Ubert dived for the save.
The Golden Eagles scored again at the fourteen minute mark when Gutierrez headed the ball in off a pass from Eric Marshall. A third strike against the Cards was inflicted in the 34th minute off a cross from Robards to Jeff Gerlesits.
The Cardinal defense ended the Marquette scoring drive with two outstanding saves from senior keeper Jeremy Morales but ended the half behind 3-0.
The Cards came out in the second half controlling the ball and setting the tempo of the half. The Cardinals outshot Marquette 5-2, keeping the ball on the offensive side of the field.
Sophomore Nathan Stevens had a penalty kick but hit the cross bar. Senior Brad Divilbiss attempted a last second shot in the 89th minute but his shot went wide and the Cardinals fell 3-0.
