Louisville, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's soccer team fell in overtime to No. 10 UAB today in Cardinal Park. The Cardinals fall to 11-8-1 on the season and 3-4-1 in Conference USA play. The Blazers improve to 13-3-2 on the season and 5-1-2 in conference USA play.
The Blazers jumped on the board early, with Lane Knight scoring off an assist from Mike Garcia in the third minute.
Louisville tied up the score on a goal from senior Shawn Faria off an assist from Stuart Langrish. In the next minute the Cards' Courtenay Commander scored the go ahead goal off an assist from freshman Mason Barber.
The Blazers then knotted the score up in the minute off an unassisted goal from Jose Rayo straight up the middle. The game was tied at the end of regulation forcing an overtime.
UAB broke free to score the game-winning goal in the 94th minute of play. Lane Knight scored his second goal of the day off an assist from Rumbani Munthall to put the Cardinals away.
"I thought we played very well at moment today," said head coach Tony Colavecchia. "It was a disappointing loss today, giving up three goals."
Louisville will be in action again next week in the Conference USA Tournament. Louisville will face Charlotte in the opening round of play on Thursday, the time to be determined. The Cardinals defeated Charlotte 3-0 earlier this season in Cardinal Park.
