
Men's Tennis Invitational Completes First Day

Eight University of Louisville singles players and four double teams remain undefeated after the first and second rounds of singles play and the first round of doubles on Friday at the Louisville Invitational Tournament. Wright State advanced six players in the singles brackets and four doubles teams.
For the Cardinals, Alex Sivertsen, Cody Conley, Paulo Carvalho, Joachim Lien, Marek Blaskovic, Matt Mayer, Ciaran Foley, and Jake Kirts each advanced to the singles quarterfinals. The doubles teams of Conley/Brent McCombe, Lien/Sivertsen, Carvalho/Foley and Blaskovic/Mayer advanced to the quarterfinals of the doubles brackets.
"We won 23 out of 25 matches, and I am pretty pleased," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "If we had won 25 of 25 matches, I'd be very pleased. Hopefully we'll be perfect tomorrow."
Nineteen area teams are competing in the tournament including: Austin Peay, Bellarmine University, Belmont, Chicago State, Cumberland College, Eastern Illinois, Illinois State, Indiana, Indianapolis, IUPUI, Kentucky, Lincoln-Memorial, Murray State, Pikeville, Rose-Hulman, SIU-Carbondale, Southern Indiana and Wright State.
Play will continue at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center as Flight "A" singles competition takes the court.
