Louisville, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's soccer team recorded its eighth shutout of the season with a 3-0 victory over Charlotte tonight in Cardinal Park. The Cardinals improve to 9-5 overall and 2-1 in C-USA action.
Louisville junior George Zabaneh scored the game winning goal in the 74th minute of play. Zabaneh slipped past a Charlotte defender finding the back of the net.
Zabaneh then scored in the 77th minute off a deflection from the cross bar to put the Cardinals up 2-0. In the final minute of play, sophomore TJ Newberg scored on a through ball from freshman Mason Barber.
Keeper Jeremy Morales recorded one save and his eighth shutout of the season.
"I thought we played a very dominating game," said head coach Tony Colavecchia. "We played very well in possession and had a sturdy defense.
"Our bench was a big factor tonight. Zabaneh and Newberg came off the bench with fresh legs and we were able to wear them down."
The Cardinals will host No. 18 Saint Louis Saturday night, Oct. 14 in Cardinal Park at 7:30 p.m.
