- Induction:
- 1982
- Class:
- 1950
Maurice Wolford was a four-year letterman beginning in 1948 for coach Frank Camp’s football squad. The 6-1, 235 pound graduate of St. Xavier High School starred at defensive right tackle. One of the fastest and quickest linemen on the team, the Cardinals went 21-18-1 during Wolford’s four years as a player. He saw considerable action as a freshman and was a starter his sophomore year before injuring himself in the sixth game, sidelining him for the remainder of the 1949 season. Wolford, after his sophomore year, played tackle on both offense and defense. Former coach Camp said, “Maury had everything a coach looked for a in a player. He was tough, aggressive, determined, easy to coach and he liked to play the game.”
