Louisville Cheerleading Tryout Information
SAVE THE DATE – TRYOUT REGISTRATION WILL OPEN IN MARCH 2026. Please monitor this page and/or Instagram for the registration open announcement.
Thank you for your interest in Louisville Cheer. Potential members of the cheer teams fulfill the role of ambassadors for the University, role models within the community and new talent to strengthen our squad, to help maintain the tradition of excellence that continues to keep the Cheer Teams ranked among the nation's best consistently each year.
Here is the Tryout process:
Use this link and apply to the University of Louisville. Send your University Application confirmation email to Elaine@GoCards.com. You will receive the confirmation email after the $30 application fee is paid. Once University confirmation email is forwarded to Elaine, you will receive a tryout application link within 3 business days and provide contact information, cheer background, and up to 3 performance videos along with the Ticketmaster tryout fee payment link. When both application/video submission and payment have been received a confirmation email will be sent within the week, (depending on NCAA and NCA schedule impact.) Tryouts are by invitation only and tryout status/details will be emailed between the last week of April to May 1st. Application and headshots submission are not optional. If you are submitting videos, please download by May 2nd.
The in-person tryout schedule is pending.
Proof of health insurance is required at tryout. Please bring your insurance card.
Prospective candidates should display the athleticism, abilities, skills, style and collegiate look expected of the University of Louisville Cheerleader.
All Girl Requirements
Tumbling
Examples of expected video for all positions are:
Stunt 1
Combination stunt including a double down (Ex. Rewind, full around, stretch double down)
Stunt 2
Combination stunt including a flipping dismount (Ex. Backhand spring up lib, sponge, full up, front flip to cradle)
Shoulder Stand: All bases and back spots are expected to base a shoulder stand.
All Flyers should perform all body positions. Flexibility is important.
Stunt sequences can include level 6 and level 7 stunts. We are looking for technique, strength and potential.

- Combination Jump Sequence: 2 or 3 combined jumps, must include variety
- Standing tumbling: 2 different tumbling skills, can include jumps, for example, toe touch back tuck & two back handsprings to full
- Running tumbling: 2 different running tumbling passes, example; round off backhand spring full & round off backhand spring whip through to full

- Flexible (Heel Stretch, Scale)

- Standing Back
- 2 handsprings to a tuck or better
- Running to tuck or better
- No former Coed experience required, if you have no access to Coed bases, send you best group stunt video
Females
- Average Height, 5’2” - 5’6”
- Above Level Jumps
- Toss Stunts
- Toss Shoulders
- Jumps to Back
- 2 handsprings to full or better
- Running Full front to back
- Running Specialty to full or better in diagonal
Males
- Average Height, 5’8” - 6’4”
- Primarily unassisted stunts
- Solid extended single leg and 1 arm
- Solid Double down
- Standing Back not required but encouraged
