The University of Louisville provided the U of L men's and women's soccer and track teams with a new home when it opened the state-of-the-art Cardinal Park Soccer and Track Stadium in the fall of 2000. With the soccer teams moving to the new Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium when construction was completed in 2014, the stadium became a track and field only complex. The venue is just one component of Owsley B. Frazier Cardinal Park, a collection of sports facilities located on the eastern portion of the Belknap Campus between Floyd Street and Interstate 65.
In the middle of Owsley B. Frazier Cardinal Park is the Track Stadium, which provides a state-of-the-art track encircling a Bermuda grass infield. The lighted stadium provides bleacher seating for approximately 2,200 fans and is complete with a 25' x 35' Daktronics scoreboard (connected to a multi-camera Finishlynx timing system), locker rooms, a fully-equipped training room and a climate-controlled press box.
The track surface is Martin ISS 2000 "embedded" and has nine 48" lanes. All jump areas (high, long/triple and vault) are located in large "D" zones inside each turn. The steeple water jump is also inside the turn and is adaptable for the women's event.
Along with hosting all Cardinal track and field competitions, the complex has hosted the 2004 and 2002 Conference USA Track and Field Championships and various high school soccer games and track meets.
The Cardinal Park Sportsplex, the main building attached to the stadium, houses the Nancy and Harry Jones Training Room, the Bonnie Rechter Wing with enhanced locker rooms, meeting rooms, concession areas, and public restrooms.
