Alison Whitty

Alison Whitty was hired as a graduate assistant coach for the Cardinals in 2018. The St. Catharines, Ontario native started rowing at Ridley College. Throughout her high school career, she medaled at various prestigious American and Canadian high school regattas. Her senior year she was team captain, Oarswomen of the Year and Athlete of the Year.

Whitty then went on to row at the University of Miami where she was a leader on and off the water. As an exercise physiology major and SAAC representative, Whitty earned membership to multiple ACC academic teams (2016, 2014), Athletic Director honor rolls, University of Miami Dean’s list (2016, 2014) and Provost’s lists (2016). The four-year letter winner was team captain her last two years. In her final season as a Hurricane, she was awarded the Iron Oar and GRIT Award by the team and was added to the Second Team All-ACC selection and CRCA Second Team All-Region honors.Â

During the summers, Whitty returned to Canada to train under retired US. National Team athlete Nancy Storrs. The Ridley Graduate Boat Club member earned eight national titles at Royal Canadian Henley Regatta and was recognized by ROWONTARIO on three different occasions.Â

Once Whitty graduated from Miami, she continued her educational and athletic journey at Brock University. Whitty was in pursuit of her primary education teaching certificate, however she placed school on hold in order to train with the Canadian National Team.

Whitty is now working towards her M.Ed. in Counseling and Personnel Services (College Student Personnel) at UofL and will graduate in May 2019. Whitty has spent her time at UofL working with the novice and varsity squads, assisting with recruiting and operations, and is currently interning in the athletic department working with international student-athletes.
