Gracie Barbara
- Title:
- Graduate Assistant Coach
Grace Barbara is in her first season as a graduate assistant coach for the Cardinals. A native of Alexandria, Va., Barbara started rowing for T.C. Williams where she was team captain for two years. She medaled at the Virginia State Championships for 5 consecutive years, and won a silver medal at Stotesbury Cup and a gold medal at Scholastic Nationals in 2010.
Barbara then went on to row for Indiana University for four years, and was an important player in the success of the team when they qualified for the NCAA Championship for the first time in program history, finishing ninth in the 1V4 and 11th overall in 2014. After graduating from IU, Barbara went back to Alexandria to coach for T.C. Williams, where she directed the women’s 2V to a silver at Stotesbury and bronze at Scholastic Nationals in 2016. She hopes to bring that success to the Cardinals, making an already successful team faster.
“When coach Rinozzi contacted me about the GA position opening up, I immediately jumped on the opportunity, knowing it was the perfect position for me to learn more about coaching at the collegiate level, both on and off the water," said Barbara. "The overwhelming support for the athletes and their well-being is very inspiring. I’m excited to work with the staff and the athletes.”
