LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Dwyane Wade scored 15 points as Marquette recovered after blowing a 19-point first-half lead to beat Louisville 75-71 on Wednesday night.
Travis Diener added 13 and had a steal and two game-sealing free throws in the final minute for the Golden Eagles (12-3, 1-1 Conference USA), who snapped a three-game losing streak to Louisville.
Reece Gaines scored 19 - 17 in the second half - to lead the Cardinals (10-3, 1-1), who lost for the first time in 10 home games this season.
The Golden Eagles scored the first 19 points of the game, confusing the Cardinals with multiple zone defenses.
Louisville missed its first seven shots and committed three turnovers before Erik Brown's layup with 13:47 left in the first half trimmed the deficit to 19-2.
The Eagles still led 32-19 when Gaines hit two free throws to start an 11-3 Louisville run in the final 2:40 before halftime.
Louisville missed its first six shots of the second half, as Marquette built the lead back to 13.
Brown and Carlos Hurt then hit back-to-back 3-pointers to trigger Louisville's comeback.
Cordell Henry scored inside to put Marquette up 50-41 with 10:44 left, but Gaines, who did not have a first-half field goal, then scored 17 points over the next five minutes.
His two free throws with 6:41 remaining gave the Cardinals their first lead at 59-58, and his 3-pointer with 5:08 left put Louisville up 65-63.
The Cardinals led 69-66 when Wade scored inside and Oluoma Nnamaka sank two free throws to put Marquette ahead for good at 70-69.
Cordell Henry hit a shot from the wing with 1:14 left, and Diener stole an interior pass by Ellis Myles with 1:00 remaining. Diener made a pair of free throws with 26.5 seconds left to put the game away.
