SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Phil Cullen scored 16 points and Nick Jacobson had 15 as Utah crushed Louisville 84-67 in a rare February non-conference game.
The Utes (16-9) shot 74 percent in the first half and 59 percent for the game as they won their fifth straight game and extend their longest winning streak of the season.
Cullen made 4-of-5 3-pointers and Jacobson was a perfect 5-of-5 from the field as Utah stormed to a 19-6 lead and stayed ahead for the rest of the games.
Utah's Chris Burgess controlled the middle with 14 points and Britton Johnsen had 11 points and seven rebounds as the Utes' massive front line dominated the inexperienced Louisville big men.
Marques Maybin scored 13 points before fouling out with 7:13 to play. Muhammed Lasege, Reece Gaines and Bryant Northern each added 10 for Louisville (10-16) and its embattled coach Denny Crum.
Crum and his coaching future have been in the news since ESPN.com reported he would be replaced at season's end. Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich labeled the report speculative but has not been able to hide disappointment in Crum and his team's performance.
"It seems a lot of people have short memories," Crum said Saturday. "We lost a whole lot of games in 1985 and the next year we won the national championship."
Crum is the only active collegiate coach in the Basketball Hall of Fame. He led the Cardinals to two NCAA titles and six Final Four appearances.
Crum received a round of applause from the crowd before the game but didn't get any compassion on the court as Utah made 11 of their first 14 shots and led 31-11 with 7:37 to play in the first half.
By halftime, Utah moved out to a 47-25 lead and held a 23-8 rebound advantage. The blowout was payback for the Utes, who fell behind by as many as 30 points and lost 75-55 in Louisville last season.
Utah now leads the all time series with the Cardinals, 3-2.
