
Louisville Men Fall To Charlotte, 106-72

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Rodney White scored 26 points and grabbed nine rebounds Sunday night as Charlotte beat Louisville 106-72 for its fourth straight win over the Cardinals at Freedom Hall.
Jobey Thomas added 15 and James Zimmerman added 13 for Charlotte (13-9, 5-5 Conference USA), which shot 61 percent and beat Louisville for the eighth time in the last 10 meetings.
Erik Brown scored 16 and Reece Gaines and Ellis Myles added 15 points each to lead Louisville (9-15, 5-6), which tied a school record with its eighth loss of the season at Freedom Hall.
Marques Maybin, the league's second-leading scorer at 18.9 points per game, was held to a season-low four points on 1-of-5 shooting. He also committed six turnovers before leaving the game early in the second half with a bruised chest.
The 49ers lead the league in scoring (77 points per game) and were the first team to score 100 points on Louisville at home since a 100-83 win by Arkansas in 1997.
Charlotte led 15-11 midway through the first when White scored inside to trigger an 11-2 49ers' run.
Myles sank a free throw with 10:27 remaining to cut Charlotte's lead to 26-14, but Cam Stephens scored underneath 12 seconds later to push the lead to 14.
Brown sank two free throws with 9:38 left in the half to draw Louisville back to within 12, but a layup by Zimmerman with 8:55 remaining started an 11-0 Charlotte spurt.
Myles dunked with 6:17 left to cut Louisville's deficit to 21 at 41-20. A three-point play by KenKay Jones 14 seconds later gave the 49ers their biggest lead of the half at 44-20.
The 49ers sank 18 of their first 29 shots. They cooled off in the final five minutes of the first half, missing 9 of 12 shots, but Louisville got no closer than 18 during that span.
The 49ers opened the second half with a 17-6 run, hitting seven of their first eight shots after halftime. The Cardinals got no closer than 20 the rest of the way.
Louisville plays its next four games on the road, including a Feb. 21 game at Charlotte.
