LAHAINA, Hawaii (AP)-- Marques Maybin scored 10 of his 21 points in overtime as Louisville beat UNLV 86-85 on Tuesday in the consolation bracket of the Maui Invitational.
The Cardinals (2-1) will play No. 12 Connecticut, which beat Chaminade 77-61, for fifth place on Wednesday.
Louisville led 70-61 with 5:06 to play in regulation, but UNLV (1-2) went on a 13-4 run that included the final seven points of regulation to force the overtime.
Maybin, who was 2-for-11 from the field and scored nine points in the 95-73 opening-round loss to No. 6 Maryland, scored all but two of the Cardinals' points in the overtime.
Kaspars Kambala, who had a career-high 37 points, gave the Runnin' Rebels a 78-74 lead with the first four points of overtime. But Maybin's four-point play tied the game with 3:56 left.
Maybin, who also gave Louisville leads of 82-80 and 84-83, gave the Cardinals the lead for good with two free throws with 54 seconds left that made it 86-85.
Each team turned the ball over before UNLV had the final chance at the win, but Dalron Johnson's 3-point attempt with four seconds left missed.
Maybin was 7-for-13 from the field. Reece Gaines added 18 points for Louisville, while Luke Whitehead had 12 points and eight rebounds.
Kambala, whose previous career high was 32 points against New Mexico last season, was 21-of-22 from the line. He made his first 18 attempts, his first miss coming with 2:15 left in overtime. Kambala, who was 8-for-10 from the field and grabbed five rebounds, set the tournament record for free throws, smashing the mark of 14 set by Stanford's Todd Lichti against Baylor in 1987.
Johnson, who tied the game at 74-74 with a three-point play with 30 seconds left in regulation, had 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Runnin' Rebels.
The NCAA record for consecutive free throws in a game without a miss is held by Arlen Clark of Oklahoma State. Clark went 24-for-24 against Colorado on March 7, 1959.
