Mark Sander returns to Louisville as a quality control coach after playing linebacker for the Cardinals from 1986-90.

Since 2002, Sander has worked in the Derby City as a head football coach at the high school level, most recently coaching at Bullitt East High School from 2016-19. He also coached and served as the athletic director at Iroquois High School from 2012-16 and at DeSales High School from 2002-12.

Sander has also had coaching stops as a linebackers coach for the Cologne Centurions of NFL Europe as well as a three-year stint at Florida Atlantic University.

After concluding his playing career in Louisville, Sander played linebacker professionally in the NFL and World Football League from 1991-97.

Sander earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from UofL in 1991 and also holds a master of arts in teaching from the University of The Cumberlands in 2016.
