Jalen Phillips serves as an Associate Director of Academic Services and is the athletic academic counselor for the Men's Basketball and Women's Tennis teams. Jalen was a former intern in the Academic Services for Athletics department before making stops at Villanova University as an Academic Support Intern, the University of Southern Mississippi as an Athletic Academic Counselor and Graduate Assistant/Internship Coordinator, and the University of Memphis as an Athletic Academic Counselor.Â
He worked with several different teams at those universities including: football, men's basketball, women's basketball, women's golf, men's golf, men's soccer, softball, men's tennis, women's rowing, women's volleyball, and women's water polo.
Originally from Bardstown, KY, Jalen attended Bethlehem High School before attending UofL. He graduated from UofL with both his bachelor's degree in 2016 and master's degree in 2018. He is a member of the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A).Â
Jalen and his wife Ashley, have two children. A daughter named Aliza, and a son named Carmelo.
