Christel Blocker serves as Program Assistant for Academic Services for Athletics. She currently assists the Academic staff at the Thorntons Academic Center of Excellence and is responsible for overseeing facility usage. She is also the supervisor for Federal Work Study students.

Blocker is a Louisville native and graduate of Seneca High School. After serving in the United States Marine Corps, she came back home to Louisville to begin her career. Blocker earned her Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership and Learning (2021) and Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration with a concentration in Sport Administration (2022) from the University of Louisville.

As a Marine Veteran and first generation graduate, Blocker serves as an advocate and mentor for the University of Louisville military connected and first-generation student community. A Rising Star of the Women Leaders in College Sports organization, Blocker attended the Women’s Leadership Symposium (2021). She is also member of the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A).

She resides in Louisville with her husband, Shane, and her son, Cameron.
