Amy Calabrese is a former Louisville student-athlete and veteran athletics administrator who has dedicated her career to advancing student-athlete success and strengthening the overall operation of Louisville Athletics. She was elevated to Deputy Athletic Director in August 2022 after serving as Associate Athletic Director beginning in July 2019 and being designated as Senior Woman Administrator in November 2020. Calabrese has been a full-time member of the Louisville Athletics staff since November 2009.
In her current role, Calabrese provides executive oversight for Health and Performance, Facilities and Game Operations, and Internal Operations, including the department's revenue-sharing process and reporting. She also oversees the sport administration team and serves as the direct sport administrator for Louisville Women's Basketball and Louisville Volleyball. In addition, she serves as the athletic department liaison to key campus partners, including the Office of Title IX, Dean of Students, and Residence Life, helping ensure a comprehensive and collaborative approach to the student-athlete experience. As Senior Woman Administrator, she has served as Chair of the ACC SWA Committee and has represented Louisville on numerous ACC sport-specific committees, while also contributing to conference and national initiatives that support student-athlete welfare, leadership development, and the advancement of collegiate athletics.
Prior to her promotion to Deputy Athletic Director, Calabrese served as Associate Athletics Director and Assistant Athletics Director, gaining extensive experience in sport administration and departmental leadership. Before moving into athletics administration, she directed Louisville's student-athlete development efforts, overseeing leadership programming, career education, community engagement initiatives, and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Calabrese first joined Louisville Athletics as a graduate assistant in development in 2007 and later served as Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Development and Championships, helping coordinate conference and NCAA championship events, community outreach initiatives, and student-athlete programming.
A four-year letterwinner on the Louisville women's soccer team from 2003-06, Calabrese earned Academic All-America honors as both a junior and senior. A four-year team captain, she started all 77 matches of her collegiate career and was recognized as an All-Conference selection.
Calabrese earned a bachelor's degree in sport administration with a minor in business administration from the University of Louisville in 2007 and graduated magna cum laude with her MBA from Louisville in 2009. She is a graduate of the NCAA Pathways Program, the Women Leaders in College Sports Institute for Administrative Advancement and Leadership Executive Institute and Leader Louisville's Ignite Louisville program.
She and her husband, Rich, have three sons: Jack, Colin, and William.
