Theo Smith is in his first season as the Director of Social Media and Creative Content for the women's basketball program at Louisville.
Smith spent his previous two years at Colorado Mesa as the Assistant Athletic Director for Creative Content and Digital Media. While at Colorado Mesa, Smith implemented innovative social media strategies that significantly boosted fan engagement, increasing the athletics department’s main Instagram account following by 33%. He also managed social media accounts for 20 varsity sports programs. His efforts were instrumental in the Sports Information Department winning the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Sports Information Department of the Year Award. Additionally, Smith was recognized as a finalist for Staff/Faculty Member of the Year in his second year. He also served as the official videographer for the 2023 and 2024 Alpine Junior College World Series.
From 2021 to 2022, Smith worked as a Creative Content/Compliance Assistant at Augustana University, where he developed creative content for the university’s nationally recognized basketball and baseball championship programs and volunteered as a baseball coach.
From 2020 to 2021, he served as a Marketing Assistant and Daktronics Content Creator and Operator at Francis Marion University, where he led marketing campaigns, managed videoboard content, and expanded social media engagement efforts.
In 2020, Smith also gained experience at Wayne State College as a Sports Information/Marketing Assistant and volunteered as a baseball coach.
Prior to that, from 2016 to 2019, as an athletics Student Assistant at Albany State University, he assisted with sports information, marketing, and social media content. He was also a study-abroad participant in Beijing and Xiamen, China, where he completed a communications internship.
Smith holds a Master of Business Administration from Albany State University, completed in December 2019, and a Bachelor of Arts in Electronic Media, graduating Cum Laude in May 2018. As a student-athlete for the Golden Rams, Smith was ranked first in the SIAC Conference and ninth in Division II baseball for being one of the toughest players to strike out in 2017. He was a key contributor to four SIAC Baseball Regular Season Championship teams and helped secure the SIAC Baseball Conference Tournament Championship in 2018.
