Junior: Whitney had a breakout season in 2008-09 when she became a prodigious point scorer for the Cardinals. Her best highlight came when, at the NCAAs, she set a school record in the 50-free with a time of 21.91 which put her in the NCAA Top 20 All-Time Performers at No. 18. At the NCAAs, she was the leadoff swimmer in the 200-free relay that finished seventh in a time of 1:28.47. It was the first relay team in the history of U of L to final. As leadoff in the 200-medley relay, she helped post a time of 1:40.38. Her 48.60 in the 100-free at the NCAAs set a school record, She was tenth in the 50-free. In the FINA US Championship and World Trials, she finished 18th in the 50M-free with a time of 25.97. She was named All-BIG EAST and was a BIG EAST Swimmer of the Week. At the BIG EAST, she set four school records. She won the 50-free in a then-school record time of 22.36. She was third in the 100-free in 49.51. She helped set the school mark as leadoff swimmer in the 400-free relay with a split of 49.32 and a time of 3:18.16 and a championship. At the BIG EAST, she swam a 25.32 in the second leg of the runner-up 200-medley relay which posted a time of 1:39.64 and set a school record. She anchored the runner-up 400-medley relay with a split of 48.88 for a school record time of 3:39.28. She won the B-final in the 100-back with a time of 55.24, a lifetime best and was third in the 100-free with a time of 49.51. She participated in the 2008 U.S. Open Championships.
Sophomore: After redshirting in 2006-07, Whitney returned to action and attained All-Conference BIG EAST honors as a key member of the 200-Medley, 200-Freestyle and 400-Freestyle relays--helping to set four school records in all. The 400-Free relay also achieved a 5th place finish at the Short Course National Championships. Whitney was an important part of the Louisville sprinter contingent, turning in lifetime-best times and attaining top-5 finishes in both the 50- and 100-freestyle events at the BIG EAST East Championships.
Prior to UofL: (DeAnza Community College) She was the California Junior College Swimmer of the Year and 2004-05 MVP, winning the 50-, 100-, and 200-freestyle events at the State Junior College Championships.
Personal: Daughter of Bob and Reneee Campbell. Swam for the DeAnza Cuperstino Aquatics Team for coach Pete Raycovich. Majoring in exercise science. Born June 4, 1987.
