Bio
2024-25: During the dual meet season, he was eighth in the 50 free versus Purdue with a time of 20.87. At the Ohio State Invitational, he was 29th in the 100 fly (28.45), 34th in the 100 free (45.28) and 35th in the 50 free (20.68). In the Cincinnati meet, he was fourth in the 100 freestyle, turning in a time of 45.15.
2023-24: During the dual meet season, he placed sixth as part of the 200 medley relay (1:30.34) and was on the third place 400 free relay (3:00.23). Against rival Kentucky, he went 20.58 in the 50 free and 45.39 in the 100 free as well as being part of the sixth place 200 medley relay team (1:30.85). In the double dual with Indiana and Wisconsin, he was 11th in the 200 free (1:41.22) and on the 8th place 400 free relay (3:00.79). In the Cincinnati meet, he was fourth in the 100 butterfly (49.33) and on the fourth-place 200 medley relay (1:29.87).
Sophomore: During the dual meet season in the opening meet, Owen Taylor finished sixth in the 200 freestyle and helped the 200 medley relay team to a second place finish. At Tennessee, he finished seventh in the 100 fly and was on the third place 400 Free Relay team. At Notre Dame, he was seventh in the 200 free. At the Purdue Invitational, he was 15th in the finals of the 50 free, 17th in the finals of the 100 fly and 20th in the 100 freestyle. He was also a member of the 400 Free Relay team that finished 9th and the eighth place 200 Medley Relay team. At Missouri, he was eighth in the 200 freestyle and against rival Kentucky, he was third in the 100 fly and 8th in the 50 free. Against Indiana, he was seventh in the 100 fly and 8th in the 200 freestyle.
Freshman: In his first season with the Cardinals, Taylor recorded several strong swims throughout the dual meets. Taylor finished fourth in the 50 freestyle (20.71) against Cincinnati but had his best time of the season against Kentucky (20.49). He also competed in the 100 freestyle this season, recording a season-best against the Wildcats (45.30). Taylor added new energy to the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay. Swimming anchor in the 200 medley relay, Taylor led his team to two fourth-place finishes at Cincinnati (20.01 split) and Kentucky (20.25 split). As the lead-off in the 400 freestyle relay, his team finished 7th against Indiana and 5th against the Wildcats.
Prep: Owen came to the Ville from Cincinnati, where he swam for Powel Crosley Junior YMCA and Coach Mike Leonard and for St. Xavier High School. He qualified for US Open, US Nationals and Junior Nationals. He was a 14x NISCA All-American. He was an eight-time State Champion and a 2x State Record holder.
Personal: Son of Mike and Susan Taylor. Born Oct. 19, 2002. Major is finance.
