Melanie continues to be a prolific point scorer for the Cardinals. She helped set the 400-medley relay team at the BIG EAST Championship. At that meet, she also scored points in the 100-free, the 200-free and the 200-free relay. She set her lifetime best in the 500-free at the highly competitive IU Invitional. As a freshman, she made an immediate impact on the Cardinals as she set school records in the 50-free, the 100-free and was part of the record setting 400-medley relay team, the 400-free relay team and the 800-free relay team. Individually, she made it to the medal stand with a third place finish in both the 100- and 200-free. She came to U of L from Westville Girls High School in Durban, South Africa. Before becoming a Cardinal midway through the 2004-2005 seaon, Melanie competed at the Junior Commonwealth Games in Scotland in 2000, as well as the Mare Nostrum series in France and Spain.

Personal: She is the daughter of Jan and Marie Greyling. She plans on majoring in economics, She was born June 7, 1985.
