Junior: After sitting out a year per NCAA rules, Kris returned to the water with a vengence. At the World Championship Trials, he went 22.68 to be the 16th fastest American. He also anchored the 4x100 medley relay team that placed first at the World Trials (3:44.63). He earned All-BIG EAST honors after a strong showing at the BIG EAST Championships. He set or helped set school records last season. He went 19.78 in the 50-free to set a school record and finish second in the conference. In the record setting 400-medley relay, he anchored with a split of 43.84 as part of the 3:11.02 winning time. He also helped the 200-free relay team set a school record (1:17.89) and win a conference title as the second leg (19.27). In the school record setting 400-free relay, he was second in the water (43.85) as the Cardinals boarded a 2:54.40 as runnerup. As part of the 800-free relay, he was second in the water (1:38.39) as the Cardinals went 6:30.69 as league runners-up. He made the A-final in the 100- free (44.18) and the B-final in the 100-fly (49.09) for additional points for the Cardinals.
Prior to U of L: Kris Findorff transferred to the University of Louisville from Auburn University. He participated in the US Olympic Trials in the 50- and 100-free.
Prep: He comes to Louisville from Colorado Springs, Colo., where he swam for Mike Donne and the Colorado Springs Swim Team. A sprint freestyle specialist, he has been a four-time high school state champion and a six-time high school all-American. A Senior Nationals qualifier, Kris attended Cheyenne Mountain High School where he also swam for Pete Nichols. A multi-sport participant in high school himself, he comes from an athletic family with a brother who plays hockey in the New York Islanders' system and a sister who plays soccer at UCLA.
Personal: He is the son of Scott and Stacey Findorff. He was born May 14, 1987. He is majoring in sports administration.
