Junior: As a junior, Chase earned All-BIG EAST honors. He was a member of the 200-free relay team (1:20.12) that took first with him as the third leg with a split time of 20.36. The team finished in 1:20.12, earning them first place and a national B cut. He also swam in the 100-backstroke, where he finished fifth with a time of 49.22.
Sophomore: As a sophomore, Chase scored points at the 2009 BIG EAST Championship. He made the B-final in the 20.76 in the 50-free for the Cardinals.
Freshman: As a freshman, he set three lifetime bests at the BIG EAST in the 50-free, 100-free and the 100-back. He made the B-Finals in the 100-back.
Prep: Chase came to U of L from St. Louis, Mo., where he swam for Ladue Horton Watkins High School for Ted Watterson. He was the Missouri State High School Champion in the 50-free and the runner-up in the 100-free. He received All-State Honors in 2006 and 2007. Grimes also swam for Clayton Shaw Park where he was coached by Dave McCrary. He helped lead Clayton Shaw Park to second place finishes at the 2006 and 2007 Sectional Meets and anchored the first place 400-Medley Relay team Cardinal the 2007 Spring Sectional Meet. He was also recruited by Missouri and George Washington.
Personal: He is the son of Michael and Nancy Grimes. He plans to major in business. He was born December 30, 1988.
Highlights: Chase was a part of the BIG EAST Championship 200-free relay team and was All-BIG EAST.
