Chris McRae
- Title:
- Men's Tennis Volunteer Assistant Coach
University of Louisville head coach Rodrigo da Silva has announced that Chris McRae has joined his coaching staff as a volunteer assistant in October 2020.
“We are very excited to add Chris McRae to the coaching staff,” said da Silva. “As a player Chris was a worker and he was able to clinch several matches for the university of Alabama. He also worked with several high-level junior players at Roddick’s academy in Texas. He is passionate about the game of tennis and we are looking forward to him working with our team.”
McRae played for the University of Alabama from 1999-2002 and served as the team co-captain from 2000-02. During his time at Alabama, McRae helped the Crimson Tide to several top-20 rankings as well as three NCAA tournament appearances and reached the round of 16. The four-time Academic All-SEC selection competed in the National Clay Court and the ITA All-American Championships in each of his seasons.
“I am honored that I have been asked to be a part of such a great coaching staff and team as well as to lead these young men so that they compete at the highest level on daily basis,” said McRae. “Mario Rincon was my assistant coach at the University of Alabama and so to be able to teach these young men what Mario instilled in me years ago is a blessing that I take very seriously and am very excited about.”
A Louisville native, McCrae attended Ballard High School and was a four-time all-state selection and was ranked No. 1 in the state six times, reaching as high as No. 26 in the nation in 1996. His brothers: Chad (1990-93) and Jeff (1995-98) played for the Cardinals.
McCrae earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing from Alabama in 2002.
