LOUISVILLE SELECTED TO HOST OPENING ROUNDS OF NCAA VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP After a 29-3 regular season campaign including the BIG EAST Regular Season and Tournment titles, the Louisville Cardinals have been selected to host the First and Second Rounds of the 2012 NCAA Volleyball Championship on Nov. 29 and 30 at the KFC Yum! Center. Louisville earned the No. 10 national seed in the Berkeley Region and will welcome Tennessee, Michigan, and Belmont to the Derby City for the opening weekend. The first round matches begin on Thursday, Nov. 29 as Tennessee will face Michigan at 5 p.m. with the Cardinals and Belmont following at 7:30 p.m.
TICKETS ON SALE STARTING MONDAY, NOV. 26 All-session tickets are lower level reserved seating and adult tickets can be purchased for $20. Tickets are $10 for youth (ages 3 to 18) and $10 for seniors (55 and older). Single-session tickets for Thursday's first round matches will go on sale on Thursday beginning at 3:30 p.m. and will only be available at the KFC Yum! Center ticket office.Tickets for Friday's second round match will be available beginning at 9 a.m. at any U of L ticket office or at beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the KFC Yum! Center ticket office. ABOUT THE FIELD Belmont (18-16) defeated top-seeded Morehead State (3-1) in the Ohio Valley Conference title match to earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA. The Bruins just played Louisville, Friday, Nov. 23 in Cardinal Arena, a 3-0 sweep by the Cardinals. Prior to Friday, the Bruins had won five games in a row and now enter the tournament winning 10 of their last 12 matches. Tennessee (22-7) is making its school record fifth-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance in 2012 after earning a place in the 64-team field. The Lady Vols finished with a 15-5 mark in Southeastern Conference play and were runners-up in the Eastern Division. Michigan (23-11) will make its seventh straight and 13th overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Michigan finished 11-9 in the Big Ten, good for a tie for sixth place.
