What does Hispanic Heritage Month mean to you?
It means a lot to me because it feels great to be recognized and it’s also great to hear about how far Hispanic culture and acceptance has come in this country.

What does it mean to you to be Hispanic/Latinx?
I love being Hispanic because it makes me unique.
What is unique about your culture?
Cuban culture is just something you don’t see anywhere else. It’s loud, chaotic, but at the same time we’re all just one big family.

Why are you proud to be Cuban?
I’m proud to be Cuban because it’s taught me so many valuable lessons in life and has allowed me to be a part of the hispanic community which is an amazing privilege.

In what ways do you celebrate your heritage?
We have huge celebrations for Noche Buena (Christmas Eve) where we roast a pig with our whole entire family and family friends. We also all get together for Thanksgiving.

How has Los Cardenales specifically impacted you & your life at UofL?
I’m going to join Los Cardenales so that I’m able to play a role in advocating for the Hispanic community here at UofL.
