What does Hispanic Heritage Month mean to you?
Hispanic Heritage Month is a celebration of the culture that has played a big role in shaping who I am as a person.

What does it mean to you to be Hispanic/Latinx?
Being Hispanic allows me to embrace my diversity and be able to celebrate the different cultures that connect me to many other people in America.

What is unique about your culture?
My culture emphasizes the importance of family and friends, and taking care of those same people.

Why are you proud to be Mexican?
I’m proud to be Mexican because nothing is more important than my family and my culture has excellent food!

In what ways do you celebrate your heritage?
I celebrate my heritage by visiting Mexico every year and doing my best to keep my Spanish speaking abilities sharp.

How have you used your platform as a student-athlete to advocate for equal representation for the Hispanic community?
I have joined Los Cardenales to embrace the different cultures of Latinx at UofL and teach others the great things about Hispanic culture.

How has Los Cardenales specifically impacted you & your life at UofL?
This group has allowed me to meet other people with similar backgrounds and relate to them in ways that I haven’t been able to with others. It has also allowed me to embrace my Mexican background more than I have in the past.
