LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Jiri Zuska of the University of Louisville men's golf team moved into the top 10 after shooting 70 on Monday during the second round of the Watersound Invitational at Shark's Tooth Golf Club.
The Cardinals slipped to 12th place after shooting a 3-over-par 291 on Monday. Georgia Tech leads the field at 14-under-par, while Virginia Tech is in second place at 10-under-par.
Competing against four other teams that are ranked in the top 25 of the current Golfstat rankings, nine in the top 50, the Cardinals raced out to a fast start, but struggled down the stretch in the 54-hole event. The tournament is being contested on the golf course that will host the ACC Championship in April.
Zuska remained in a tie for 10th place after shooting a 2-under-par 70 to finish the two rounds at 2-under-par. He opened play by recording birdies on three of his first six holes and birdied two on the final nine holes.
Chris Francoeur dropped into a tie for 25th place after shooting an even-par 72, while Walker Franklin remained in a tie for 41st place after his 3-over-par 75 on Monday. Max Kennedy and Nick Tenuta are tied for 50th after their play.
The Cardinals will be paired with Duke and Boston College on Tuesday beginning at 9:20 a.m.
