Cards Stand in Sixth Place after First Round of the Watersound

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Chris Francoeur and Jiri Zuska each fired even-par rounds to pace the University of Louisville men's golf team at the Watersound Invitational held at Shark's Tooth Golf Course on Sunday.
The Cardinals finished the opening round in sixth place after shooting a 4-over-par 292 to sit seven shots off the overall lead. Georgia Tech paces the field at 3-under-par, while Virginia Tech and North Carolina are tied for second place after its round of 2-under-par. The Cardinals will be paired with NC State on Monday morning at 9:30 a.m., which is closed in fourth place.
Zuska and Francoeur each carded 72 to stand in a tie for 14th place overall and open the second round five shots off the lead. Alabama's Canon Claycomb leads the field after shooting 67 on Sunday.
Francoeur was up-and-down with five birdies on Sunday four bogeys and one double bogey, while Zuska had one birdie and an eagle on No. 13.
Walker Franklin is tied for 21st after shooting a 1-over-par 73, while Nick Tenuta is tied for 43rd after his round of 75. Max Kennedy closed out the top five by shooting a 4-over-par 76.
